“I am very pleased that my journey continues in Bayern Munich,” said the German national team goalkeeper in a statement on the club’s website.
Neuer has been the team captain of the club since 2017.
“Manuel Neuer is the world’s best goalkeeper. It is an enormous achievement to maintain such a world-class level for such a long time,” said CEO Oliver Kahn.
The situation looks even worse for the German club when it comes to retaining another key player: the shooting king Robert Lewandowski.
