In the Netherlands, the leading exporter of beef in Europe, a local initiative is making a lot of noise. The city of Haarlem near Amsterdam has decided to ban meat advertising in its public spaces, in order to raise awareness of the greenhouse gas emissions produced by cows. The measure must come into force in a year and it is debated.
