Netflix’s sci-fi epic Rebel Moon is getting rave reviews, but there’s one major flaw

Zack Snyder could tell the greatest sci-fi epic after Star Wars. And Netflix wouldn’t mind. His massive new sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire, will soon appear in the stream. “Filled to the brim with stunning images and great action scenes“, praises one critic.”Loved him!!!” writes a colleague enthusiastically. A third describes the film as “Loving tribute to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Seven Samurai [und] gladiator“, but finds the beginning of the film to be too long-winded. And other voices agree.

“Length is an issue, particularly in the first act“, explains another critic. Nevertheless, the film is overall a success that makes you want to see the upcoming sequel.

There has also been isolated criticism of scenes that some viewers have perceived as a theft from other franchises (via Twitter). Nevertheless, the tenor of the reactions so far has been clearly positive.

When is Rebel Moon coming to Netflix?

Whether Rebel Moon deserves enthusiasm or harsh criticism will be determined when it launches on Netflix December 22, 2023 every fan can decide for themselves. The sequel Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scar Maker follows on April 29, 2024.
