The recent changeable success story of Baran bo Odar, Jantje Friese and Netflix is not over yet. The streaming service canceled the long-awaited mystery project 1899 in autumn 2022 after just one season. The fans were horrified, the showrunner duo at least surprised. Previously, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese (also for Netflix) had directed the hugely successful and popular sci-fi mindfuck Dark.
As the well-informed industry magazine Deadline reports, Netflix is now exclusively tying the sci-fi duo back to itself. And the first series project sounds pretty good.

Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese will be the comic series Something Is Killing The Children (buy at Amazon *) adapt. According to Deadline, more than 2 million copies of the series have been sold in the last 5 years. To date, 28 partially award-winning volumes have been published. The spin-off House Of Slaughter became the most successful non-Marvel or DC comic of the past 25 years. So Netflix is facing one here potential vein of gold.
