Netflix will soon remove the best comedy series of all time, subscribers will be furious

Netflix will soon remove the best comedy series of all

This beloved comedy series will soon no longer be available on Netflix, to the great misfortune of subscribers.

It’s soon to be drama for subscribers. The American comedy series par excellence, considered by many to be the reference series and the best of its kind despite its faults (mainly in terms of representation, whether on LGBTQ+, racial or obesity issues), will soon be no longer available on Netflix. And this will not please many subscribers who consider it an ultra-comforting comfort series.

Since its release in 1994, Friends has become the queen of American comedy series. While many others have become cult, none have had as much popularity, even 30 years later. In 10 seasons and 236 episodes, more than 22 million spectators followed the broadcast until 2004, with an audience peak of 52 million viewers for the series finale. Since then, the saga which revealed Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Matt Leblanc and Lisa Kudrow to the general public was still broadcast on television in France, and was to the delight of Netflix subscribers.

It must be said that many viewers continue to take refuge in some of the most hilarious episodes of the series to cheer themselves up or for a good laugh. Because the pitch of Friends (the daily life of six friends in New York) is as simple as it is unstoppable. The series has also proven several times its ability to make people laugh thanks to recurring gags (Janice’s “Oh.My.God”, Ross and Rachel’s “We were on a break”, Ross’s repeated divorces, the songs of Phoebe, the revelations of the relationship between Chandler and Monica…) or to make you cry with more serious subjects (Phoebe’s speech to the triplets, the adoption of Chandler and Monica…). The soap opera won several awards, and hosted several stars for an episode, contributing to its unwavering notoriety.

Classic from classic, Friends yet leaves Netflix. From July 1, subscribers will no longer find the series in the streaming platform’s catalog. A likely disappointment for some, but it will still be possible to find the episodes for legal viewing since it will now be available on Max, the streaming site of Warner, holder of the rights to the series. And the more old school can continue to discover the episodes on TFX on Sundays from 12:50 p.m. to 5:40 p.m.
