Netflix series was adamantly canceled after one season and the

Netflix shows no mercy when it comes to canceling its series. As soon as a restart does not bring about the desired success, the ripcord is pulled. Basically, all TV stations and streaming services do this. Not every series can run forever, especially not when the ratings and viewing numbers are disappointing.

What is striking about Netflix, however, is the lack of transparency. Fans worry for months about the survival of their favorite series, only to learn casually that no new episodes are coming. But that’s not all: those involved often don’t even know exactly what the current state of things is, as the cancellation of Hard Cell proves.

Canceled despite sci-fi star: Hardy Cell with Catherine Tate does not get a second season on Netflix

The British comedy series starring Catherine Tate premiered on Netflix in April 2022. Tate, who is known from the sci-fi series Doctor Who, among other things, plays six (!) different roles in it. These are figures in a women’s prison. The mockumentary is modeled after the sketch comedy The Catherine Tate Show, which aired on the BBC from 2004 to 2007.

Hard Cell will not be returning for a second season. This is the 20th Netflix series to be canceled this year. As reported by the Daily Mail, Tate not informed of the dismissal. She told the BBC:

There was a change of personnel [bei Netflix] and as it happens, when someone who commissioned the series is gone, they want to start over. I kinda get it, but it would have been nice if they told me.

It’s official: we won’t be seeing more than the six episodes of Hard Cell that are currently available to stream on Netflix. Tate’s career was not affected by the resignation. On the occasion of 60th anniversary of Doctor Who she returns to the iconic sci-fi series for three specials in November.
