What particularly bothers Calva is that Depiction of Mexico in the series. It is a very one-sided image created by his homeland. He accepted the role at the time primarily because he didn’t have too many options to grow up as an actor, as he reveals in the interview.

There’s a moment in your acting career when you don’t really get to choose your roles. You’re just grateful you have a job. Narcos is a great show. But in my case it’s a bit difficult because I don’t agree with it at all am as they represent the history of my country. There’s a lot of truth in it and that’s great, but there’s also a lot of lying.

In Babylon, Calva slips into the role of a young actor trying to break into 1920s Hollywood. The film starts on January 19, 2023 in German cinemas.
