Trailers are both a curse and a blessing. Fans who eagerly await a film or series absorb all the video snippets and images in advance like a sponge. Unfortunately, there are always trailers that reveal too much and anticipate big moments of surprise. The 4th season of Stranger Things is an annoying example Therefore.
Stranger Things not only delivers a lot of surprising twists in the seven new episodes, but also inspires with epic and intense moments. For me, however, the viewing experience at the best moment of season 4 was filled with plenty of frustration. Why does Netflix have the exit already spoiled months before?
Stranger Things season 4 delivers a suspense masterpiece with episode 4
Warning, spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4: One episode of the new Stranger Things season is causing a lot of conversation: Episode 4 called Dear Billy. This unleashes a grandiose needle drop – not without reason Kate Bushs storms Running Up That Hill the charts again – probably the most intense moment of the entire series. Of course we are talking about Max’s confrontation with Vecna.

Max in the clutches of Vecna
Stranger Things invests several episodes in the build-up of tension that one scene. Three times we saw how Vecna wears down his victims with horrific visions, finally lets them rise into the air as an invisible force and brutally murders and deforms them from the Upside Down. Anyone who begins to hear the ticking of the old clock can no longer escape a cruel fate. And then, suddenly, Max (Sadie Sink) is caught by Vecna’s unstoppable curse.
While her friends desperately try to figure out how to stop Vecna’s curse, Max has already come to terms with her impending end. We and they know: There is no way out. At the latest when she suddenly begins to float in front of her brother’s grave, some fans should just before collapsing be.

Stranger Things S04 Volume 2 – Trailer (English) HD
The knowledge of the hopelessness coupled with the emotional goodbyes should ensure that we consider the possibility that Stranger Things is about to kill a central protagonist could. The staging creates an absolute goosebump moment. This could have been a one-time series extreme experience. But Netflix self-destructed through trailers.
Netflix trailers have shown too much of Stranger Things season 4
The wait for Stranger Things season 4 was unbearably long. As a big fan of the Hawkins gang, I absorbed and internalized every snippet of information, every clip, every promo picture and of course the trailer for three years. In hindsight, that was it a big mistake.
Of course I rooted for Max too and enjoyed the crescendo of suspense at the end of the episode. But I would have liked to experience the absolute adrenaline rush when Vecna lays his greedy claws over Max. Unfortunately, at no time could I really fear for her life. Then Max’s survival was spoiled by Netflix.

Max after her Vecna trauma
Eight months ago, Netflix released a clip that included the Hawkins kids Max in the dusty attic of the Creel mansion indicates. This scene can be seen in almost every Season 4 trailer. Since the characters haven’t yet explored the spooky house in episode 4, I knew while watching: Max will definitely survive. So that’s enough, just a single Netflix trailer for the new episodes see to be spoiled.
This is just one example of how Netflix spoiled my viewing experience with the Stranger Things trailer. Every time the action jumped to Hopper in Russia, that played out in my mind Demogorgon battle shown in the trailer away. Why did the climax of Hopper’s story have to be anticipated? In general, too many scenes from episode 7 (eg Steve, Nancy, Eddie and Robin in the Upside Down) were shown beforehand.
While Max’s spoiled fate was upsetting to me, Season 4 remains an extraordinary viewing experience. And in the end, Episode 7 delivered with its insane twists and turns about Jamie Campbell Bowers character unpredictable Stranger Things shock moment from what I had previously wished for.
On July 1, 2022, Stranger Things Season 4 will conclude with Part 2 on Netflix. And until then I will avoid any further Strange Things trailers.
