Netflix prices are increasing in the United States and two countries in Europe. Could France soon be affected by this increase in the prices of the streaming platform? What we know.
[Mis à jour le 15 mars 2022 à 14h31] Soon a new increase in Netflix prices in France? In any case, this is the concern of subscribers to the streaming platform. After the United States, two European countries are affected by an increase in the prices of the subscription platform. In the United Kingdom, the Premium subscription (the most expensive with the most options) is now set at 15.99 pounds sterling (or 19.02 €), 10.99 pounds sterling (13.08 €) for the standard subscription and £6.99 (€8.32) for the essential subscription. Ireland is also affected by this price increase: the premium subscription now costs €20.99, the standard subscription €14.99 and the essential subscription €8.99.
For now, we do not know if this Netflix price increase will impact France or not. This is not officially the case at the moment. Prices have already risen discreetly last August, before the announcement was publicly made official by the platform in October. Knowing that 18 months have elapsed between the last two price increases in the United Kingdom, and 15 months in the United States, we can hope that the increase in Netflix subscription prices does not affect the France this year. However, we will have to wait for the formalization of the platform to be certain.
Regardless of the monthly plan chosen, films and series can be viewed unlimited, the subscription can be canceled at any time, and it is possible to connect to the streaming on their computer, TV, smartphone or tablet. Note that in France, the last price increase dates from August 19, 2021, before it was made official by the platform in October. Essential streaming service worldwide, Netflix offers three monthly subscriptions to its French customers to discover hundreds of series and films. To subscribe to Netflix, simply go to the home page of the site, enter your email address in the proposed field and click on “register now”. The platform then offers to choose the desired package and enter an email, password and billing information. But thatsubscription choose between Essential, Standard and premium? Below, we summarize the advantages and disadvantages of the different subscriptions:
- The essential subscription is the cheapest. For €8.99 per month, it is possible to discover the content of the platform in HD with only two simultaneous screens. This cheapest subscription is to be preferred if you are alone or an occasional user of Netflix.
- The standard subscription at €13.49 per month offers to discover the content of the platform in HD with two simultaneous screens. This subscription is ideal for single people or couples who regularly use Netflix.
- The subscription Premier is also the most expensive, but it offers all the features of Netflix. For €17.99, it is possible to watch films and series in HD and ultra HD, with 4 screens simultaneously. This subscription is preferred for shared accommodations of more than two people or large families whose members regularly use Netflix.
For several years, Netflix offered in France to benefit from a month of free trial to become familiar with the platform and validate its subscription. Since February 2020, it is no longer possible to benefit from 30 days of free trials: the subscription is paid for from the first month of use. However, it is always possible to cancel your subscription at any time. To date, there is no possibility to test Netflix for free legally.
