Netflix secures one pearl after another at the film festivals. After the serial killer thriller Woman of the Hour, the streaming service bought Richard Linklater’s (Boyhood) Hit Man, which was shown in Venice. At Meta Critic, Hit Man currently holds a rating of 82 points. Vulture’s Bilge Ebiri sees a possible possibility in the film Masterpiece. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is paying $20 million for the rights.
What is Hit Man about?
In the thriller comedy based on true events, Gary Johnson (Glen Powell from Top Gun 2) is one of the most sought-after contract killers in New Orleans. But anyone who hires him has to be careful, because Gary actually works for the cops and passes on the names of his clients. But one day he receives a request from a desperate young woman (Adria Arjona) who wants to escape her cruel boyfriend. Suddenly Gary is inspired to really live out his fake persona.

Hit Man does not yet have a release date on Netflix. However, the streaming service is unlikely to take too much time with the release. A Starting in autumn 2023 is therefore more than realistic.
