Seventh Son may have more stars in the cast than you can count. Even Kit Harington had a brief appearance as a wizard’s apprentice at the very beginning during his Game of Thrones heyday. Nevertheless, the fantasy film did not catch fire with either the cinema audience or the critics.
On a budget of $95 million, it grossed just $114 million worldwide, which is by far no financial success represented. In addition, the film companies Warner Bros. and Legendary separated as production partners shortly before publication, so that Seventh Son had to be taken over by Universal for advertising and distribution at short notice.

However, the failure of Seventh Son did not affect Ben Barnes’ fantasy career: after all, he had previously appeared as Prince Caspian of Narnia and was most recently seen as a powerful magician in Shadow and Bone – Legends of Grisha on Netflix.
