Netflix just stamps mega project with Scarlett Johansson but there

Just last week we reported on Paris Paramount. Nancy Meyers’ new film made headlines as the rom-com director hit the streaming service for a Budget of $150 million asked. The status at that time: Netflix was willing to invest 130 million US dollars.

This sum is quite unusual for a romantic comedy. But Paris Paramount also sounded like that ultimate Nancy Meyers film to, in a way, their The Irishman. She was able to win big names such as Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Owen Wilson and Michael Fassbender for the leading roles.

However, the conflict over the budget could not be put aside. Based on a report from Variety , Netflix has the much-anticipated project pulled the plug. Meyers insisted on the budget she requested. However, the streaming service did not want to exceed $ 130 million under any circumstances.

It’s a bitter defeat, but there’s still a glimmer of hope on the horizon. After Netflix pulled out, the team behind Paris Paramount wants to look at other studios. The only question is who is investing such a substantial budget in a RomCom if not a Hollywood disrupter like Netflix.
