Netflix movies don’t have the best reputation. A few hours ago, however, the streaming service announced a project that you should definitely put on your watch list: The Wages of Fear. It is a remake of the Henri-Georges Clouzot film The Wage of Fear, the One nerve wracking story told.
Released in 1953, the black and white film follows the novel Le wage de la peur by Georges Arnaud back. The plot revolves around four men who deal with a highly explosive cargo of nitroglycerin set out to put out a burning oil well, pushing their limits in the process.
The Wages of Fear: Action director Julien Leclercq is relaunching Wages of Fear for Netflix
As the Hollywood Reporter reports, Julien Leclercq will direct the remake of the French classic. Leclercq is well versed in action thrillers and has already implemented various projects under the Netflix umbrella, including Sentinelle starring Olga Kurylenko. Now he’s taking on The Wages of Fear.

The main cast of the new edition is as follows: Franck Gastambide, Alban Lenoir, Ana Girardot and Sofiane Zermani will drive the nitroglycerine around this time and hope that the charge doesn’t explode prematurely. Next year the film will celebrate its premiere. A specific date has not yet been set.
Until then, you can watch The Wage Fear by Clouzot, as well as the masterful remake, Breathless with Fear, released by William Friedkin in 1977. The title could hardly be more apt: Here you will catch your breath for two hours, because the journey to the burning oil well is one of the most exciting storiesthat has ever been captured in the form of moving images.
