Netflix has launched the second edition of its Geeked Week, from June 6 to 10, 2022. The opportunity for fans to have news of popular series and films, such as The Gray Man, Umbrella Academy or Resident Evil.

During this week of Geeked Week, Netflix floods the Internet with announcements, trailers and other surprises. Enough to revive the craze since times are tough for the platform, which has seen its number of subscribers drop in recent months due to severe competition from other subscription video services such as Disney ++ and Amazon Prime Video.

To rekindle the enthusiasm, Netflix is ​​organizing a virtual summit from June 6 to 10, during which many announcements will be made. Preview trailers, new presentations, first exclusive images, interviews with actors… “Video viewers” will have plenty to eat! The platform has even announced script readings and other surprises whose nature we still don’t know. A total of more than 60 projects will be involved in this event. In particular, you will have news of Stranger Things, One Piece, sweettooth, Alice in Borderland, Locke and Key, but also animated series like The Prince of Dragons and the highly acclaimed Arcaneas you can see in this absolutely insane trailer!

The virtual event launched on Monday, June 6 at 6 p.m. (French time), along with the Tuesday and Thursday announcements. For Wednesday, however, the announcements will be unveiled from 4 p.m. in the United States, or Thursday at 1 a.m. in France. It is finally on Friday June 10 at 7 p.m. in France that the event will close.

The Netflix site will collect all the announcements for latecomers, while tudum, the other site dedicated to platform content, will share “bonus” information. Twitch users can even co-stream the event on their account, Netflix said.

What are the big announcements from Netflix Geeked Week?

Each day of the event has its own theme. Thus, Monday was devoted to series with announcements like The Umbrella AcademyThe Sandman, resident Evil, One Piece and the expected Alice in Borderland ; on Tuesday, to the movies; Wednesday, entertainment; Thursday was entirely dedicated to Stranger Thingsand on Friday, video game adaptations.

Upcoming Netflix Movies Featured, Like The Gray Man with actors Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans or The School for Good And Evil. Wednesday was devoted to entertainment with the magnificent Arcane and The Prince of Dragons, while this Friday marks the trend for the adaptation of video games. But before that, on Thursday 9, the platform dedicated an entire day to Stranger Thingsone of Netflix’s flagship series, whose end is initially scheduled for the 1er July.

The conference unveiled exclusive series and images. First, Netflix announced a horror series derived from The Adams familynamed wednesday and produced by Tim Burton. This is also the very first series of the famous director ofEdward Scissorhands ! Not to be missed, therefore. We also see returning Locke and Key coming in August, and a first look at the horror series from Flanagan, scheduled for October. The same is true for seasons 2 of Korean series Alice in Bordeland and All of Us Are Deadas well as the series Winx. Series resident Evil, inspired by the famous video game saga, finally gets a trailer full of shootouts and more repulsive monsters than each other that will arrive on your screens on July 14th. Finally, The Sandman will be released on August 5th.

If the first day of Geeked Week hit hard by revealing many announcements, excerpts and trailers, Tuesday’s revelations were a little lighter. The first surprise was the trailer for The Best Seaan animated film by Chris Williams – who has already made gems like Moana and The New Heroes – which is set to hit our screens on July 8. Young Maisie decides to embark as a stowaway on the boat of the great Jacob Holland, a hunter of aquatic monsters celebrated as a hero. Then begins an incredible aquatic journey full of adventures with this endearing duo.

A short teaser of the film Troll from director Roar Uthaug – to whom we owe the mediocre reboot of tomb Raider from 2018 – unveils the gigantic creature from Norwegian folklore. The troll wakes up after a millennium as a prisoner under the mount of Dovre and begins to destroy everything in its path. On another note, Netflix revealed a preview of Day-Shift, an action movie starring Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco and Snoop Dog, just that! The film, which features a hunt for vampires, is scheduled for August 12 on the platform. June 28, Blasted will land on our screens to offer us a cocktail of humor and science fiction. Two childhood friends, followers of laser tag – a game with weapons equipped with lasers – meet at a bachelor party. Everything degenerates when they find themselves in the middle of an alien invasion. A crazy moment in perspective!

We also find key actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in very different roles. In Spiderheadadapted from the short story Escape From Spiderhead, actor Chris Hemsworth runs a very strange penitentiary since inmates are subject to experiments with drugs that modify their behavior. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maveric, Tron: Legacy), the film will land on June 17. Netflix also unveiled an exclusive excerpt from The Gray Manin which Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans find themselves under the direction of the Russo brothers (who notably directed the films avengers) for an explosive action blockbuster. Finally, The School for Good & Evil got its first teaser and is set to arrive in September, with Charlize Theron in the cast. Two childhood friends are transported to a unique school, where the young heroes and villains of fairy tales are trained to maintain the balance between good and evil. Zack Snider shared a makeup test for his 2023 film Rebel Moon. A visual from the zombie movie Zom 11: Bucket List of the Dead as well as short teasers for Wendell & Wild, Interceptor and Killer Book Club were also unveiled.

The third day of Geeked Week 2022 put the spotlight on animation series, and we can say that we were not disappointed! The most important point of this day is undoubtedly the presentation of Cyberpunk: Edge Runnersthe anime series inspired by the game Cyberpunk 2077 and produced by Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill). It is a reinterpretation of the game that will tell us an independent story for 10 episodes and centered on the two protagonists, David and Lucy. The psychedelic series will be released in September 2022. In the meantime, here is the trailer and an exclusive clip!

We were all waiting for news about season 2 d‘arcane, which had been a real visual and narrative slap. Unfortunately, the information is thin, since we only know that the recordings have already started. In the meantime, we will have to be satisfied with the avatars of the characters for the Netflix profiles and the announcement ofArcana: Briging the Rift, a 5-episode documentary series that will be broadcast every Thursday from August 4 and will follow the development of the anime.

Finally, the day of Wednesday ended with the announcement of the series Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, which will stage 20 stories by the great master of horror Junji Ito, who came for the occasion to present the project himself. The end of the phenomenon series is fast approaching! While the first part counted 287 million hours of viewing in just 3 days on Netflix, the last episodes will arrive on July 1 to close the story.
