In a few weeks, One Piece, probably the biggest series event of the summer, will start on Netflix. Anime fans are eagerly awaiting whether the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s popular original will do justice to it. Netflix is sparing no expense or effort to finally break the anime curse. In the first trailer has nevertheless an embarrassing mistake crept in.
Even the biggest series are not free from film errors that don’t fit into the respective world at all. Game of Thrones messed with plastic bottles and coffee mugs. And even in The Walking Dead, a star keeps forgetting his cell phone in his pocket. In the case of One Piece, however, things are different. Here Netflix noticed the error long before the start of the series – and corrected it.
A smart watch in One Piece? Netflix fixes the trailer glitch
The One Piece trailer sees the execution of the pirate king Gol D. Roger (Michael Dorman), whose death ushers in a new age of piracy and treasure hunting. Among the many onlookers is spotting a woman wearing a smartwatch. Netflix noticed the glitch and recently released a new version of the trailer without any technical gadgets.

Maybe Netflix shouldn’t have fixed this glitch at all. Because there was surprisingly little ridicule for the pirate smartwatch on social networks. Instead, fans of the manga and anime were desperately looking for theories and explanations. Because in the world of One Piece nothing seems impossible:

However, most fans were convinced that Netflix’s One Piece series prepared a story with the hidden smartwatch that had not yet been seen in the anime series. In the current manga arc, the straw hat pirates end up on the futuristic island of Eggheadwhere there are tons of advanced technologies to discover.
In the end it was fine not an Egghead clock or the Apple model of a log port, but just a simple film error. But one thing is already certain: One Piece fans will be watching closely when the series finally starts on Netflix.
