The first episode of Vikings aired on the American History Channel on March 3, 2013, and probably very few people could have predicted how successful and long-lasting the series universe would be. The story of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his descendants ran for six seasons. In 2022, it was expanded to include a spin-off. But now the end is near. The final season of Vikings: Valhalla starts today on Netflix.
Netflix sequel: Vikings Valhalla takes place 100 years after Ragnar
If you’ve only seen the main series so far, you shouldn’t expect any characters from the original in Vikings: Valhalla. The series takes place over 100 years after the events in Vikings and is approaching the end of the Viking Age. Instead of Ragnar, Lagerta and Co., Nordic celebrities such as Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), his sister Freydis Eiriksdottir (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) are at the center of the plot. However, the conflicts between Viking kingdoms and Christians remain.
In season 2, the series expanded its setting to include Constantinople and In season 3 we can expect appearances by Erik the Red (Goran Visnjic) and General Georgios Maniakes aka. Florian Munteanu.

Is there hope for Vikings: Valhalla Season 4?
Season 3 of the spin-off will be the finale of the series. Creator Jeb Stuart told IGN last October:
Of course, with real historical figures there are always other aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made narrative sensethat the journeys of Leif, Freydis and Harald end with our 3rd season.
So there will be no 4th season of Vikings: ValhallaPlans for further spin-offs of the Viking adventure have not yet been announced, but can hardly be ruled out.
