In South Korea, a total of 19.5 million won (US$16,300) fines were imposed on Google, Netflix, and three other video streaming services.
According to Yonhap’s report, the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) reported that Over-the-top media service provider (OTT) Google, Netflix, KT, LG Uplus and Content Wave have blocked the action of their paid subscribers to terminate their subscriptions.
TO MAKE CONTRACT TERMINATIONS DIFFICULT…
According to the FTC, these OTTs provided false information or did not allow subscribers to cancel their online subscriptions to make it difficult for their customers to terminate their agreement to use their service.
Therefore, in addition to a total fine of 19.5 million won (US$16,300), OTTs were ordered to correct their business practices. (AA)
