The Israeli commission of inquiry into a stampede that led to the death of 45 people during a Jewish pilgrimage to Mount Meron in April 2021 concluded that Benyamin Netanyahu was “personally responsible,” in its report published Wednesday March 6.
“We have come to the conclusion that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has personal responsibility” in this tragedy, indicates this report, because he was supposed to “know that the site […] had been poorly maintained for years” and could represent “a risk for the many participants” in the pilgrimage marking the Jewish holiday of Lag B’Omer.
