Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been discharged from hospital after suffering dehydration on Saturday, his office and the hospital where he was treated announced.
The 73-year-old prime minister underwent a series of tests on Sunday morning that showed he was in “excellent condition” before being discharged.
– Our diagnosis after all the tests, including laboratory tests, is that the reason for the hospitalization was dehydration, his doctor said in a statement.
Netanyahu was taken to the emergency room at Sheba Hospital near Tel Aviv in his own car on Saturday afternoon, after feeling dizzy.
In a video from the hospital released a few hours later, Netanyahu said he spent time in the sun with his wife without a hat and water. It was not good, he admitted, urging his countrymen to avoid the sun and drink plenty of water during the heat wave that hit the country.
His office later announced that he would remain in the hospital overnight, on the doctor’s recommendation. Therefore, Sunday’s government meeting was moved until Monday.
Last October he had to spend a night in hospital after feeling unwell. It was explained by the fact that he had fasted in connection with the holiday of Yom Kippur.
