Netanyahu attacks Britain’s arms export decision: “Shameful” | News in brief

Israel’s prime minister described Britain’s decision to freeze some of its arms export licenses to Israel as “shameful”.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu commented on Britain’s decision to export weapons yesterday in a condemning tone on social media.

Yesterday, Britain froze 30 of its 350 arms export licenses to Israel, which concern “assault weapons”. These include, for example, components used in fighter jets and airplanes.

The reason was the British Foreign Ministry’s fear that Israel would use British imported goods in attacks that violate international humanitarian law.

Prime Minister Netanyahu calls the decision “shameful”.

– Hamas is still holding more than 100 hostages, including five British citizens. Instead of Britain standing by Israel, a partner democracy defending itself from barbarism, the country’s wrongly justified decision only encourages Hamas, Netanyahu writes.

According to Netanyahu, Israel keeps civilians out of harm’s way in Gaza and follows international law in its military operations.

Israel will win the war with or without British weapons, Netanyahu ends his message on the X message service.

British Defense Secretary Jon Healey defended the freezing of arms export licenses earlier today. According to him, the decision will not have a “material impact” on Israel’s security, The BBC writes.
