A close employee of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will lead the negotiations for a second phase of the ceasefire with Hamas, says a source with transparency.

The US-born minister Ron Dermer is considered Netanyahus closest advisor. He has previously been an ambassador to the United States and is considered to have strong ties to Trump’s administration. In November, he visited Trump’s residence MAR-A-LAGO during a US trip before meeting then President Joe Biden’s co-worker in the White House.

Previous negotiations have been led by the managers of the security services Mossad and Shin Bet.

The first phase of the ceasefire ends in early March, but the second phase has not yet been negotiated.
