The fog is very limited in space. We don’t know what the rest of the world looks like. Instead, we follow the individual characters around David as they try to find a way out of their predicament. Disagreements and arguments arise. Nerves are frayed.
In contrast to his other Stephen King adaptations, which feel like tragic epics, Frank Darabont sets The Mist on the immediate: We are just as trapped in the supermarket as the characters and can’t wait to finally get a clear picture of what’s going on outside.
