The sci-fi horror film feeds on ignorance of the horrors in the fog and the true magnitude of this catastrophe unbearable tension. As befits a Stephen King story, the human characters here are almost more dangerous than the supernatural horrors.

The situation at the supermarket threatens to escalate at any moment as the survivors split into two camps and the fanatical Mrs. Carmody (Marcia Gay Harden) even demands human sacrifice to end what she believes to be a divine punishment.

who himself after two hours of raw nerves and horror wishes a redeeming happy ending, but is taught otherwise. Because the fog gives you an ultimate punch in the pit of your stomach at the end. More is not to be revealed at this point.

The fog

For his next project after The Mist, Darabont brought back numerous people in front of and behind the camera. Among other things, creature designer Greg Nicotero, who shaped The Walking Dead significantly as a make-up artist and director. Also received four performers from The Mist went on to have prominent roles in the Zombie series:

In fact, a few more actors appear in both projects. For example Sam Witwer, who embodies the soldier Wayne Jessup in The Mist. He had a short one in The Walking Dead Cameo appearance as a soldier zombie in the first two episodes. Its history at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse should actually be highlighted in season 2. In the course of budget cuts and Darabont’s later dismissal, however, this plan did not materialize.

The fog protagonist Thomas Janes almost ended up on The Walking Dead as well. He was originally slated to play lead character Rick Grimes, but had to leave the project during development due to other commitments. The role eventually went to Andrew Lincoln. And the rest is history.
