With The Convicts and The Green Mile, director Frank Darabont has created two masterpieces that are among the most popular Stephen King film adaptations. Another adaptation followed in 2007 with Der Nebel. This already features four actors who Darabont brought back three years later for the zombie series The Walking Dead.

For his next project after The Mist, Darabont brought back numerous people in front of and behind the camera. Among other things, creature designer Greg Nicotero, who shaped The Walking Dead significantly as a make-up artist and director. In fact, a few more actors appear in both projects. For example Sam Witwer, who embodies the soldier Wayne Jessup in The Mist. He had a short one in The Walking Dead Cameo appearance as a soldier zombie in the first two episodes. Its history at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse should actually be highlighted in season 2. In the course of budget cuts and Darabont’s later dismissal, however, this plan did not materialize.
The fog protagonist Thomas Janes almost ended up on The Walking Dead as well. He was originally slated to play lead character Rick Grimes, but had to leave the project during development due to other commitments. The role eventually went to Andrew Lincoln. And the rest is history.
