Nepal: cost of permit to climb Everest rises to $15,000

Nepal cost of permit to climb Everest rises to 15000

You will now have to pay $15,000 to have the right to attempt to climb Everest. A drastic increase for the climbing permit which was previously set at $11,000. The Nepalese government justifies this increase by the growing need for funding to clean the highest mountain in the world, and to cover the insurance costs of sherpas, the local guides who accompany their foreign clients to the summit.
