A week of violent clashes between two rival gangs in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince has killed at least 89 people, according to the human rights organization RNDDH, which monitors human rights in the country. Another 74 people are said to have been shot or stabbed and 16 are missing. At the same time, popular protests against the regime are growing since fuel and necessity prices have reached new record levels, making it increasingly difficult to reach out to people in need with humanitarian aid. – We are poor and hungry, and our children can no longer go to school.
