The heavier-than-usual heavy rains that started last Friday have caused flooding, especially in the southern parts of Morocco. According to a representative of the Ministry of the Interior, in some areas it rained in two days, the average amount of rain for the entire year.
According to the Moroccan Meteorological Institute, for example, in the province of Ouarzazate in the central parts of the country, it rained as much as 47 millimeters in three hours. On the other hand, 170 millimeters of rain fell during the weekend in the town of Tagounite, near the Algerian border.
