It is by no means certain whether Carel and Mirjam will continue to live as quietly as they have for almost 20 years. Bijlenga explains that there are plans for new construction in this quiet part. “It is still in the research phase, but the council seems to be interested in housing construction in the Kromme IJssel area. There is also talk about a large recreational lake. That seems a shame, because this is a vulnerable area that has been there for centuries and therefore also has cultural-historical value”.
