After Ulf Kristersson’s state secretary PM Nilsson was convicted of poaching eels, the Nature Conservation Association is now strongly criticizing him.
– It is very sad if he does not understand how serious the situation is for the eel, and how serious poaching is in this context, says Karin Lexén, secretary general of the Nature Conservation Association.
Despite efforts to protect the eel, the situation is still critical.
Since 2007, eel fishing has been prohibited for everyone – except for a few professional fishermen with a special eel fishing permit.
