On Wednesday, NATO leaders formally invited Sweden and Finland to the defense alliance. The announcement comes the day after Turkey, Sweden and Finland reached an agreement – and Turkey withdrew its veto.
“Today, we have decided to invite Finland and Sweden to join NATO and have agreed to sign the application protocol,” reads the formal statement by NATO countries from the Madrid Summit.
