NATO chief: New meeting in Brussels about Swedish membership soon

Jens Stoltenberg spoke by phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday and decided that a new meeting should take place.

– We agreed to call for a high-level meeting in Brussels before the summit (in Vilnius 11-12 July). The intention is to make progress towards the completion of Sweden’s entry into NATO, says Stoltenberg at a press conference in Lithuania.

The meeting will take place in Brussels next week and will be attended by foreign ministers, intelligence chiefs and national security advisers.

– The entry (in NATO) of Finland and soon also Sweden will further strengthen security in the Baltics, Stoltenberg emphasizes.
