    NATO and EU in extraordinary meeting with Zelensky

    A number of European leaders and NATO chief Mark Rutte are planning an emergency meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, reports the news site Politico.

    On the agenda is the view on possible peace talks and thoughts about peacekeeping troops to Ukraine.

    The meeting will be held in Brussels, in connection with the summit that the EU has with the countries in the Western Balkans on Wednesday evening.

    According to Politico, which lists five different people – anonymous – as sources, in addition to French President Emmanuel Macron and the head of NATO, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Polish President Andrzej Duda and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the new European Council President António Costa are supposed to be present. According to Reuters, Italian and British prime ministers Giorgia Meloni and Keir Starmer are also invited.

    Zelenskyj has already been invited to the EU summit in Brussels, which will be held on Thursday, December 19. There, Ukraine is a major subject.
