The France team will play in the final phase of the League of Nations, but against whom and on what date?
It is this Friday that we will know the opponent of the France team for the final phase of the League of Nations. By finishing first in the group, the Blues have made their task easier and will therefore avoid Spain, Germany and Portugal in the next round. They will also play the quarter-final return at home in March 2025. Three potential opponents face the Blues with Denmark, Croatia and especially the Netherlands who seem to be the toughest opponent for the France team. The quarter-finals will take place from March 17 to 25.
The quarter-finals were planned as classic two-legged matches, before the semi-finals and the final, organized as single matches in a host country, as in previous editions.
Also for the first time, in addition to the quarter-finals, inter-league promotion and relegation play-offs were planned. As in the first three editions, the last of each group is relegated to the lower league and the first promoted to the higher league. The novelty is therefore a play-off between the third places in each group against the second places in the groups of the lower league, always according to the principle of two-way matches. Since League D only has 6 teams, only the two teams at the top have a chance of moving up to the higher league, while the two worst fourth-placed teams in League C are condemned to relegation. To further add to the stakes, four tickets for the play-offs of the World Cup 2026 were also reserved for the best teams in this Nations League, not qualified via the playoffs.
Here is the final ranking of the 2024-2025 Nations League, by league and group. France is classified in Group 2 of League A with Belgium, Italy and Israel.
The 2024-2025 Nations League calendar is divided into several days from September 5, 2024 to June 10, 2025, date of the competition final. The group stage was launched in September 2024 and concluded in November, the quarter-finals were scheduled for March 2025 and the Final Four for June 2025.

The Nations Football League is organized into four leagues. The first four and the second four of the League A groups qualify for the quarter-finals in two-legged matches, then the winners play Final Four (semi-finals + final).
The group winners of Leagues B, C and D are promoted to the higher leagues and the bottom finishers of Leagues A and B are relegated to the lower leagues. Each team ranked third in its group plays a play-off in two-way matches to maintain itself, against a second group from the lower league who is playing for promotion.
Since League D only has 6 teams, only the two teams who came at the top of their group move up, and the two worst fourth-placed teams in League C go down.
The 2024-2025 Nations League distributes four precious tickets for the 2026 World Cup play-offs. The four best nations in the general ranking of the Nations League (a 4th in League A group is just ahead of a 1st in League group B for example), who have not already qualified directly for the World Cup or the play-offs via the qualifiers, get these tickets. These four teams will join the twelve teams who finished second in the group in the qualifiers, to be divided into four paths of four teams in the form of a semi-final and final in a single match, each path winner qualifying for the World Cup.
