National team star Joonas Pylsy, recovering from a cerebral infarction, in the lineup for the Swiss Superfinal – going to the field is not possible

National team star Joonas Pylsy recovering from a cerebral infarction

In November, Joonas Pylsy had a cerebellar infarction during the warm-up of the World Cup match. In the super final, one of the great Finnish floor bandyurs ends, when Tatu Väänänen plays his last match.

The striker of the national floorball team Joonas Pylsyn life turned upside down when he had a cerebral infarction in the warm-up of the World Cup match against Norway in November. At the hospital, Pylsy, 33, was found to have a tear in the vertebral artery, which prevented blood from reaching the brain.

The two-time world champion, representing the Swiss SV Wiler-Ersigen, told Urheilu in January about the dramatic moments and his stories.

– I have handled this in such a way that, at the age of 33, I have achieved enough that it would not be a terrible disaster if my career ended. The most important thing is to be able to return to a normal family routine, Pylsy thought.

He hoped that his last gaming experience wouldn’t be an ambulance trip to the hospital, and that didn’t happen. The continuation of his career is still open, but Pylsy’s rehabilitation has progressed so well that he was already in his team’s lineup last weekend.

Wiler-Ersigen defeated GC Unihockey in the seventh and decisive semi-final away from home, but Pylsy was not seen on the field, and will not be seen in Saturday’s Superfinal against FB Köniz either. In Switzerland, 20 outfield players can be included in the lineup, and Pylsy told Urheilu that there is no possibility that he would go to the side of the rink, because the contact ban is valid until May.

Tatu Väänänen’s wonderful career ends

In the final, which starts at 6 p.m. Finnish time in Kloten, one of the great Finnish floor bandyurs will also end, when Wiler’s defender Tatu Väänänen, 39, is playing his last match. The three-time world champion has played international matches Mika Kohonen after the second most, 168 (power points 28+73=101), and he represented Finland at the World Championships eight times (World Championships medals 3–4–1).

He won two Finnish championships in the ranks of SPV in 2012 and 2013, and has six SM medals (2–3–1). He played in Switzerland in the 2006–2007 season, and again from 2013 onwards.

He has won four championships in Wiler-Ersigen, and after his playing career, his career continues in the same club as an assistant coach.

Among the Finnish players, Wiler-Ersigen is also represented by a defender Joel Lahti. In the ranks of the final opponent Köniz, a defender who played in the last two World Cups plays Otto Lehkosuoand the team is coached by someone who has already won the Supercup and the Swiss Cup this season Jyri Korsman. For Korsman, the match will be his last in Switzerland, as he will move to the Swedish Superliga for the next few years as the coach of Växjö.

In the women’s final, they will face the national team striker Sara Bishop represented by Kloten-Dietlikon Jets and Skorpion Emmental Zollbrück.
