“I completely lost my judgment for a short while and made a joke about something that really shouldn’t be joked about, especially in that place. I want to apologize to my national team, the federation, the staff at the airport and other people who have been affected by this,” says the national team leader in a press release on his association’s website.
The statement comes the day after the incident that resulted in the Swedish national team leader being arrested by Danish police on suspicion of threats and later released, according to SVT.
The leader, who was on his way to a championship, has been stripped of his duties at a sports association.
