The Utrecht branch of GroenLinks merely distanced itself from that interpretation and emphasized that Matser had not intended it that way. GroenLinks-PvdA party leader Frans Timmermans previously called the use of this slogan in pro-Palestinian demonstrations “unacceptable”, as did Mayor Femke Halsema of Amsterdam, who was political leader of GroenLinks from 2002 to 2010.
