In almost six seasons of Nathan Fillion’s crime series The Rookie, we have also learned a few details about the private life of late police rookie John Nolan. If you don’t know him: Pete Davidson is an American comedian whose personal life has repeatedly landed him in the gossip columns in recent years. Relationships with Ariana Grande and Kate Beckinsale are just the tip of the gossip iceberg.
We don’t know if that was the reason for Fillion’s concerns. But around the time of these relationships, filming for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad began. One found one momentous meeting for The Rookie fans instead of. Nathan Fillion and Pete Davidson both play members of the first Suicide Squad team, which carries out a fateful landing mission at the beginning of the film.
Fillion obviously had a few advantages in mind before meeting Davidson. He told The Hollywood Reporter in February:
When I first met him I thought: ‘He and I probably won’t be best mates’.
But Fillion was quickly proven wrong:
And within four minutes I was embarrassed and ashamed, because I judged a book by its cover. He is an incredibly nice man.

Within two or three days I invited him to do an episode and he graciously accepted. He is extremely talented and always brings a touch of realism to the character. It was a pleasure to see what this unlikely friend of mine would do with the role of unlikely half-brother and friends of my character can start.
