The connection was lost more than a week ago.
The US space agency NASA has lost contact with the Voyager 2 space probe, which is traveling about 19 billion kilometers from Earth, says news agency AP.
Nasa lost contact more than a week ago, when the air traffic controllers had first accidentally sent the wrong command to the sonar. A wrong command turned the ship’s antenna away from Earth.
Nasa said on Monday that its huge satellite dish in Canberra, Australia is trying to search for Voyager 2’s signal. A discovery is considered unlikely.
The connection to the ship should be restored in October, when the spacecraft resets its equipment automatically, the authorities estimate.
Voyager 2 was launched into space in 1977.
