NASA has lost contact with Voyager 2

That might be easier said than done, since Voyager 2 is 12 billion miles from Earth and it takes 18 hours for the signals to arrive.

The error message, sent just over a week ago, ordered the probe to rotate its antenna 2 percent, which was enough to knock out communication and contact has since been lost.

If Nasa does not succeed in regaining contact, it will have to wait until October, when an automatic reset of the antenna is supposed to take place.

Voyager 2 was launched in 1977 with the aim of exploring the outer parts of the solar system and entered space a few weeks before its sister probe Voyager 1.

That probe, which is close to 24 billion kilometers away, is still in contact with Nasa.
