Naps accused of rape what we know about the complaints

The rapper is accused by three new young women of “rape” and “sexual assault”. He must already be tried for similar facts dating from 2021. He denies these accusations.

Three new complaints have been filed against rapper Naps, Nabil Boukhobza by his real name. He was indicted on Sunday, August 4 for “rape” and “sexual assault” after complaints from three young adult women, as announced by the parquet from Toulon (Var). He was arrested on Friday, August 2 in a hotel in the seaside resort of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer (Var). As is the procedure in this type of criminal case, he was taken into custody. This is also the reason why he did not perform at the Fréjus en Live festival, in the Fréjus arenas. Following this police custody, he was “charged with rape and sexual assault, then placed under judicial supervision by the judge of liberties and detention”, Laurent Robert, the deputy prosecutor, told the press.

His lawyer, Nabil Boudi, explained to AFP that the man “entirely contested the facts and [tenait] available to justice as he always has”, specifying that he was “very calm”. Nabil Boukhobza’s counsel is confident: “At this stage, the charges are based solely on the words of the complainants and we must await the investigation. If the charges had been so serious, my client would have been placed in pre-trial detention”, which is not always the case. In cases of rape and sexual assault, flagrante delicto is an exception; it is the investigation that will determine the veracity of the accusations. This has been entrusted to the La Valette-du-Var research brigade and will continue on the judge’s rogatory commission.

Similar facts from 2021

This is not the first time Naps has been accused of rape. Another woman claimed to have been raped in her sleep by the rapper in the fall of 2021. In this case, the investigating judge ordered in mid-May that the rapper be tried before the departmental criminal court of Paris. As a reminder, rape is considered a criminal act in France. Me Nabil Boudi appealed this order, demanding a trial, the rapper contesting “entirely” and “with the greatest firmness” these facts, recalls Le Monde. Naps became known in 2020 after participating in the hit Bande Organisée, then in 2021 with his title La Kiffance.
