What is required for Napoli to secure the league title is a win against Salernitana, while second-placed Lazio fail to beat Inter.
Napoli’s match was scheduled to kick off on Saturday at 15:00 Swedish time. But according to a source for the AFP news agency, it will instead be played on Sunday – after Lazio has played the first match of the day.
Wild parties were expected in Naples on Saturday ahead of Lazio’s game against Inter, which could raise security concerns.
According to Claudio Palomba, whose title is Prefect of Naples, the match is being moved because “the need to help the police by avoiding overlapping events arose”.
In addition to the Serie A match between Napoli and Salernitana, a large comic book fair is also being arranged in the city on Saturday.
“If we had arranged the match on Saturday, we would have had to double our resources and for that reason we have taken a number of measures,” says Palomba.
Italian media also report that Napoli’s next game, in Udine, will also be moved from Tuesday, May 2 to Thursday, May 4.
