Naomi Osaka is trying to return to the top of tennis after a long break.
Four-time grand slam singles winner Naomi Osaka had to leave Denmark in the final match of the Auckland Classic tennis tournament due to an injury Clara Tausonia against. Osaka won the opening set 6–4, but then asked to see a physiotherapist and gave up the match.
Afterwards, the cause was said to be an abdominal muscle injury.
Osaka, 27, is trying to return to the top of tennis after a long break. The last time Osaka advanced to the finals of the WTA tournament was three years ago, and in a week the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open, will begin.
Osaka won that tournament in 2021, but said later that year that she was suffering from mental health problems. The following year, she took a 15-month break from competitions and gave birth to a child in 2023.
