Naomi Campbell surprises everyone by creating a collection for a

New role for Naomi Campbell. The British model has left the catwalks time to imagine a collection for PrettyLittleThing, a fast fashion brand far removed from the luxury labels for which she is used to working.

The new collections are starting to arrive in stores and the brands are taking the opportunity to announce their latest collaborations. Clare Waight Keller for Uniqlo, Maison Kitsuné for Barbour, Church’s for Miu Miu… Naomi Campbell at PrettyLittleThing. Apart from their British nationality, nothing seems, at first sight, to unite the supertop accustomed to the haute couture catwalks and this fast fashion brand, which belongs to the group Boohoo, including the pureplayer of the same name and Nasty Gal. In fact, the company is frequently singled out by NGOs on ethical and eco-responsibility issues. In 2020, the association for the defense of workers’ rights Labor Behind the Label had thus denounced the deplorable working conditions of some company employees. Another controversial subject: the unbeatable prices practiced by Boohoo, PrettyLittleThing and company, encouraging the overconsumption of clothing whose quality is often attacked. However, it is with PrettyLittleThing that Naomi Campbell imagined a collection of 15 silhouetteswhich will be available online from September 5, 2023.

“This collaboration is an extension of my commitment to creating and promoting opportunities for young, emerging designers”, says Naomi Campbell in a press release. The model thus invited the Nigerian designer Victor Anate and the New Yorker Edvin Thompson from the Theophilio label to participate in his capsule for PrettyLittleThing. The first designed a cut out piece, the second a white satin dress. Mini dresses in crocodile-embossed leather, transparent jumpsuits, faux trench coats… The PrettyLittleThing collection designed by Naomi Campbell will be presented in New York, a few days before the start of Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2024 (it starts on Friday September 8) during a parade event. A launch with great fanfare that Chris Parnell, head of design at PrettyLittleThing, summarizes in these words: “We’re making history with the most significant collaboration we’ve ever undertaken.”
