Trafikverket: Risk of snow cannon, can be unpleasant
A storm has moved in over Western Sweden and slippery road conditions have caused more traffic accidents on Tuesday.
SMHI has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Götaland and west and southwest of Lake Vänern.
According to Trafikverket’s Bengt Ohlsson, the storm is expected to hit the coast hard.
– There is a risk of a snow cannon. This means that the warm water of the Baltic Sea heats up the snow and that the tough wind enters in narrow lanes. Then it can be uncomfortable.
What is your advice to motorists who are about to hit the roads?
– Follow local news broadcasts and meteorologists. Then you can be prepared for what it looks like where you are and make a decision before you get stuck in traffic, he says.
