Talks to sign a lasting peace were held on Saturday (July 15th) in Brussels between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. These include ending the nearly 40-year-old conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, a predominantly Armenian-populated region within Azerbaijan which seceded in the early 1990s but was partially taken over by the Azeris in the 2020 Fall War.
