Over 350 participants from the age of two up to 60+ will compete in cross-country running, sprinting and lasso throwing. The organizers are satisfied.
– It’s so fun that there are so many registered people who want to take part, says Sanna Vannar, one of the organizers in Sarek IF.
Friday begins with cross-country running, on Saturday there are sprints (lasso throwing and running) and lasso throwing finals. Sunday ends with a pair sprint.
Tour de Sápmi
This year it is also time for a popular race, the Tour de Sápmi for the men and women. This means that those who line up in that branch will participate in all the individual competition branches and their results will then be added up.
Why do you think it is so popular?
– Because it shows who is the best overall. Not just in the individual branches, says Sanna Vannar.
“Winning is always fun”
It is not the first time that Nadia Huuva from the Kiruna Sami association has participated in the Sami SM. She is looking forward to going to Jokkmokk.
