NaDEF arrives in CdM: next maneuver takes shape

Giorgia Meloni accepts the task of forming the government presented

(Finance) – Comes to the Council of Ministers – together with the Government Report to Parliament on budgetary adjustment – the NaDEF (Update Note to DEF) that the executive updated with the programmatic framework (the Draghi government had only provided the trend, without the effects of economic policies), the GDP 2023 would come confirmed to the + 0.6% (the same figure indicated by the previous government).

A esteem so cautious, despite the higher than expected growth (+ 0.5%) in the third quarter of this year. A figure that instead for the governor of the Bank of Italy Ignazio Visco could lead to a better revision of the estimates for 2023, thanks to a drag effect (the Bank of Italy in the basic scenario foresees a -0.5%) .

As for instead net debt the bar would be raised to 4.5% of GDP: considering that the trend estimate is 3.4% (but it is not excluded that this figure may also be revised), there would be room for the next year of over 21 billion. Deficit resources that will be the starting point of the maneuver, real test of the government, which has less than two months to approve it, under penalty of provisional exercise.

Meanwhile, the economic maneuver for 2023 is also beginning to take shape: at least 21 billion in deficit resources, over 15 billion to protect families and businesses from the energy emergency, but also a revision of the Superbonus and Citizenship Income. With the theme of bills that remains at the top of the priorities.

Despite the drop in gas tariffs decided by the Energy Authority, the energy crisis has not in fact been overcome, 2023 will still be a difficult year: the government knows this and for this reason it has decided to set up the work for the next decree of aid and then for the maneuver in the name of “great prudence”
