Earlier, a group of Lopik residents said they were concerned about the closure. It would cause much more traffic in the village itself. Robin van Beek, initiator of the action group, previously voiced his concerns at RTV Utrecht. Residents were afraid of traffic jams such as in Nieuwegein, when the A2 was closed in August.
