Mysterious disease statement from the US intelligence! What is Havana Syndrome?

Mysterious disease statement from the US intelligence What is Havana

It was stated that the US intelligence units concluded that there was no connection between the mysterious cases of the disease known as “Havana Syndrome” and foreign enemies.

According to the information given to CNN and the Washington Post by officials familiar with the new intelligence assessment on this issue, it was noted that outside forces could not be associated with the Havana Syndrome cases.

In the intelligence assessment, it was stated that it was decided that the mysterious disease in question was unlikely to be the result of an operation targeted by an enemy of the United States.

The assessment, which is a result of reviewing hundreds of events and the wide variety of factors surrounding them, also pointed out that there is no convincing evidence that a foreign enemy possesses a weapon or device that could cause such mysterious diseases.

On the other hand, it was underlined that the evaluation did not provide definitive answers on what caused the disease in question, and it was pointed out that this could lead to further disappointment among those affected by the disease that the US government did not take the situation seriously enough.

In the news, it was also shared that approximately 1500 similar cases have been reported in 96 different places in the USA so far.

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) also reported in its report published on January 20, 2022, that it concluded that the Havana Syndrome was not a global campaign by a hostile power targeting US diplomats and spies.

At the time, those who reacted to the report argued that the CIA’s findings could be considered an ad hoc assessment and were not coordinated with other intelligence agencies involved, such as the Department of Defense.

WHAT IS HAVANA SYNDROME?

The mysterious disease, named after Havana, the capital of Cuba, where it emerged, was first seen in Canadian and US diplomats and their families who served in Cuba in 2016-2017.

Diplomatic staff and their families in the country had begun to report symptoms they described as dizziness, loss of balance and hearing, anxiety and “cognitive fog”. These people stated that they suddenly heard noises that those around them could not hear, and then they felt pressure and trembling.

In the spring of 2017, the staff at the Canadian Embassy in Havana began to have complaints such as dizziness and headaches caused by the mysterious ailment called “Havana Syndrome”.

Similar complaints were made by 21 staff at the US embassy in Cuba, with the Washington administration withdrawing most of its second-rate personnel from the country in September 2017.

The Cuban government had announced that the mysterious sonic attack allegations, which were allegedly exposed by the US diplomats stationed in the country, did not reflect the truth.

In the following years, similar cases were reported around the world, including at least 60 cases in Bogota, Colombia, and Vienna, Austria. (AA)
