After the coronavirus pandemic, there is a mysterious hepatitis panic in the world. In the statement made regarding the hepatitis cases, which was seen in more than 100 children in 25 states in the USA and caused the death of 5 children, it was stated that the “possibility of transmission from pets” was investigated.
94 PERCENT HAS BEEN WALKED TO HOSPITAL
CDC’s deputy director for infectious diseases, Dr. Jay Butler stated that they are conducting a joint study with the health departments of the states on the cases of hepatitis in which 5 children died, and they are investigating the “possibility of transmission from pets”.
Butler said that since October 2021, 94 percent of children who complained of cases of unknown hepatitis had been hospitalized, and 14 percent had needed a liver transplant.
The CDC official urged doctors and public health officials to report if there were any similar cases of children under the age of 10 with elevated liver enzymes.
On April 21, the center warned doctors of an unusual cluster of hepatitis cases in nine children in Alabama.
IT CAN BE A GLOBAL EPIDEMIC
The CDC’s warning comes after reports of dozens of children arriving in hospitals with unexplained hepatitis cases from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
SYMPTOMS SEEN
It was shared that most of the children with the disease had symptoms such as fatigue, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dark urine, light-colored stools, and yellowing of their skin and eyes.
Working with the World Health Organization’s Global Hepatitis Program, Dr. Philippa Easterbrook noted that as of May 1, there were 228 possible cases associated with the epidemic in 20 countries, and more than 50 cases were investigated.
